B.Tech Diaries: A Heartbreaking Farewell and a Cold Welcome

Hello readers! Welcome back.

In my last post, I shared the highlights of Teacher’s Day and Engineer’s Day—some of the proudest moments of my early college life. But today, I have to tell you about the first real "sad" moment of my first year.

I know I promised to keep things brief, but this story is close to my heart. Let’s get into it.

The News No One Wanted to Hear

About a month after college started, we were all buzzing with excitement for Fresher’s Day. But then, a "fine day" turned into a gloomy one: Rupa Mam announced her resignation.

We didn't know how to react. In those short weeks, she had become more than just a teacher; she was someone we could talk to about anything. My friends and I would often visit her cabin during free hours just to catch up and gossip. She always made time for us.

October 14, 2017: The Last Day

Wednesday, October 14, 2017, was her final day at the college. We weren’t going to let her leave without a proper goodbye. We planned a surprise farewell that was uniquely "Mechanical."

We had a talented dancer in our class named Naveen, whom we called "Naveen Robo" because of his incredible robotic dance moves. As Rupa Mam approached the classroom, a group of students met her outside and "stalled" her. Then, Naveen stepped out and performed a dance to lead her into the room. She was absolutely delighted!

When she finally walked inside, the whole class erupted in a loud, synchronized shout.

"What is all this?" she asked, completely surprised.

"It’s a surprise farewell, Mam!" we all shouted back.

She told us it was an unforgettable day for her. She spent her last class talking to us about how to achieve our goals in the future. We presented her with a gift, and then the selfie session began! (I’ve included some of those photos below).

It was an emotional afternoon. When the class finally ended, some students were actually in tears. During the lunch break, we walked her to her cabin to give her one last send-off.

This pic was posted in mam's Whatsapp status.

The Arrival of Indhu Mam

After Rupa Mam left, her friend Indhu Mam took over our Chemistry lectures. I’ll never forget her first day. She walked in and set a completely different tone:

"I am not like your Rupa Mam," she told us bluntly. "I am different. I don’t like Mechanical students. If you make any noise during my class, I will stop immediately and go back to my cabin."

We were in total shock! We sat there silently, missing Rupa Mam more than ever.

Keeping the Connection

Even though she wasn't our teacher anymore, I started chatting with Rupa Mam regularly. She was never irritated by my messages and always replied with kindness. Later on, I even went to meet her in person to give her some laddus and catch up.

As it turns out, Indhu Mam had some surprises of her own. While her start was rocky, she eventually filled the void Rupa Mam left behind in a way none of us expected.

I’ll be telling you all about the "Indhu Mam Era" in my next post!

Thanks for reading and following my journey!

Have you ever had a teacher leave in the middle of a semester? How did your class handle the new faculty? Let me know in the comments!

My Journey to SVCE: A Story of Second Chances

Hello everyone! Before starting this blog, I spent a long time wondering where to begin. Then I realized: I need to take you back to my 12th-grade year (Intermediate). The High Stakes of EAMCET After completing my 12th grade, I jumped straight into EAMCET coaching. Everything seemed to be going well until the day of the entrance test. My exam center was about 25km away from home, so my dad drove me there along with a friend who was also appearing for the test. When the time finally came, we stepped into the hall and poured out everything we had spent months memorizing. As I walked out of the exam, the clouds opened up. It started pouring rain. I told my dad, "We can't wait here, let's just go!" We hopped on the bike and started the long trek home. "Go faster, Dad!" I urged as the rain got heavier. By the time we finally made it home, I was soaked, but the stress of the exam was over. I remember an IPL match was on that night—CSK vs. MI. From that day on, I ...

B.Tech Diaries: From the Back Bench to the CR Seat

Hello everyone! In my last post, I shared the fine details of my very first day at SVCE. As promised, I’m going to keep things a bit more brief from here on out—but that doesn't mean the story is any less exciting! Let’s dive back into the journey... The Front-Row Shift On the first day, I ended up on the last bench, but deep down, I’ve always been a "first-bench student." By the second day, I knew I had to make a move. I walked up to a guy in the front row and asked, "Mind if I sit here?" He smiled and said, "Yeah, no problem!" That was Akhil —a guy who, coincidentally, shares a birthday with the superstar Prabhas. From that moment on, the front row became my home. Meeting the Legends: Drawing and Humor As the week progressed, I met more of the faculty: A. Venugopal Sir (Drawing/Year In-Charge): A legend at SVCE with nearly 40 years of teaching experience. As the first-year Mechanical In-Charge, he came in to check on the second-counseling students. ...
