Hello readers! Welcome back.
After the emotional farewell to Rupa Mam, the college atmosphere shifted. We were all looking forward to Fresher’s Day, but as often happens in college, things didn't go exactly as planned.
The Fresher’s Day Postponement
We were all pumped and ready to perform, but then came the announcement: Fresher’s Day was postponed due to rain. The funny thing? On the actual day, there wasn't a single drop of rainfall!
While most of us were disappointed, there was a silver lining. Our friend Revanth had been down with a high fever. We hoped the delay would give him enough time to recover so he could dance on stage with us. Unfortunately, even with the extra time, he wasn't able to participate. It was a bit sad, but the show had to go on.
The Man in White
Finally, the big day arrived. The plan among the Mechanical boys was simple: everyone wears a black shirt.
When I showed up, I was the only one in a white shirt. "Ganesh! You’re the CR! Why aren't you wearing black like the rest of us?" my friends asked. I just laughed and replied, "Since all of you are wearing black, someone has to stand out to lead the pack!"
Later, we all hit the ground dancing to "mass" beats. Even a bit of mild "ragging" from the seniors couldn't damp our spirits. They just asked Sai Krishna for his name and let him go—a truly "Mechanical" welcome.
The Transformation of Indhu Mam
Remember how I told you Indhu Mam walked in and told us she "didn't like Mechanical students"? Well, as the syllabus wrapped up, her icy exterior started to melt. She actually became quite friendly!
However, she still had her limits. One day during a lab session, we were tucked away in a corner. Feeling a bit brave, we pulled out our phones to snap some "candid" lab photos. "CR! What are you doing?" Indhu Mam’s voice boomed across the room. The phones went into our pockets faster than a chemical reaction! She gave us a good shouting, but we managed to save a few of the shots.
The Talakona Incident: A CR’s Nightmare
Then came Manoj’s birthday. A group of my classmates decided to skip college and head to Talakona for a celebration. "Ganesh, please give us proxy attendance," they begged. As CR, I agreed, but I told them I would only mark a few of them present to keep it from looking suspicious.
After college, I was taking my mom to the temple when my phone started ringing. It was Ruthvik. "Ganesh, who went to Talakona?" he asked, sounding panicked. I gave him the names and asked what was wrong. "There’s been an accident," he said.
My heart dropped. I immediately called Sudhardhan, who was on the trip. At first, he tried to play it cool and said nothing happened. But when I called him back and demanded the truth, he admitted they’d had a small accident. Thankfully, no one was seriously hurt.
The Miracle: The next day, parents were at the college asking questions. I was terrified that my proxy attendance would get me in trouble. But a literal miracle had happened: The students I had marked present were the ones who weren't in the accident. The ones who actually met with the accident were the ones I didn't give attendance to! My "random" selection as CR had saved my skin.
College life is full of these "adventures"—some fun, some scary, and some that teach you exactly how much responsibility comes with a title like CR.
Next up: The stress of Lab Externals and the dreaded Semester Exams!
Thanks for reading! Keep rocking, guys!
