Hello everyone!
In my last post, I shared the fine details of my very first day at SVCE. As promised, I’m going to keep things a bit more brief from here on out—but that doesn't mean the story is any less exciting! Let’s dive back into the journey...
The Front-Row Shift
On the first day, I ended up on the last bench, but deep down, I’ve always been a "first-bench student." By the second day, I knew I had to make a move. I walked up to a guy in the front row and asked, "Mind if I sit here?"
He smiled and said, "Yeah, no problem!" That was Akhil—a guy who, coincidentally, shares a birthday with the superstar Prabhas. From that moment on, the front row became my home.
Meeting the Legends: Drawing and Humor
As the week progressed, I met more of the faculty:
A. Venugopal Sir (Drawing/Year In-Charge): A legend at SVCE with nearly 40 years of teaching experience. As the first-year Mechanical In-Charge, he came in to check on the second-counseling students. He was the first of many to ask the recurring question: "Who is the CR?"
Environmental Studies: This lecturer was full of humor and always had a smile on his face. When I introduced myself as Ganesh Chenikkayala, he chuckled. "Chenikkayala?" he asked, amused by the name. I just smiled and confirmed, "Yes, sir!"
The Turning Point: Becoming the CR
After about two weeks of sitting in the front row and getting to know everyone, the moment arrived. Our class teacher walked in and asked for CR recommendations. Devendra and Akhil immediately pointed at me and suggested my name.
To my surprise, the teacher announced me as the Class Representative right then and there. In other sections, there were heated competitions and elections, but for our section, the decision was unanimous. No one objected. Just like that, I was the CR!
The happiest person was Rupa Mam. When she walked in and asked the usual question—"Who is the CR?"—the whole class shouted my name. She took the time to explain all my new duties and gave me the encouragement I needed to lead the class. From that day on, the answer to that big question was always: Ganesh.
Expanding the "Mechanical Gang"
As the days turned into weeks, my circle of friends grew into a solid group. It started with Devendra, Akhil, Yalla Rao, Sai Krishna, and Ali. Then, during the third round of counseling, Ruthvik (a friend of Akhil’s from Inter) joined us. The three of us—Akhil, Ruthvik, and I—became inseparable. If even one of them was absent, the whole day felt boring.
Later, Kiran joined the list thanks to a "mistake" by Devendra, who sat elsewhere one day and introduced us. Kiran took Revanth’s spot (another friend from my Intermediate days) while he was away. Kiran is a great guy with a golden heart—though he’s definitely the "Romantic Boy" of the group, always charming the girls around campus! Finally, Vamsi joined us, the kind-hearted joker who always keeps us laughing.
This chapter of my life was all about finding my place and, more importantly, finding my people. These are the friends who made every long lecture and early bus ride worth it.
That’s it for today! Thanks for following along. I’ll be posting more about our college adventures soon.
Keep rocking, guys!
What do you think? Were you the CR of your class, or did you prefer the back bench? Let me know in the comments!
